An Eastbourne bodyshop is the 300th Accident Repair Centre to gain the BSI Kitemark certification

Eastbourne Coach Finishers based in Birch Close has become the 300th U.K. Bodyshop to gain the BSI Kitemark certification (The first in Eastbourne!) - setting the high standards that consumers - fleet managers expect when getting their cars repaired.

To gain the highly-regarded Kitemark, the vehicle body repair shops must prove that they conform to tough standards. These include strict requirements that focus on skills, repair methods, equipment and materials. All these elements are then assessed by independent BSI inspectors and must meet stringent benchmarks if the valuable Kitemark is to be awarded by BSI.

BSI is an independent body that owns and operates the Kitemark, scheme, which aims to improve quality and safety for consumers by focussing the repair sector on the continued drive for quality accident repairs.

Eastbourne Coach Finishers managed to gain the Kitemark status after eight months. It made the business re-visit everything from top to bottom. In addition the business reviewed their 27 staff to ensure they were brought up to speed to address the changes required.

Russell Turner said: "The Kitemark certification is the way forward, standardising the quality of repairers. I believe that by displaying the Kitemark symbol at our site it offers customers reassurance that they will receive an honest, fair and safe quality repair.

The Kitemark has enhanced our business and tied up any lose ends that we had in our process. In addition, the procedure was also thoroughly embraced by our team and they adopted a positive attitude toward the training and changes.”

Eastbourne Coach Finishers are also planning on expanding their business and are actively looking for another site.

Eric Friend, BSI Kitemark Certification Manager added: "We are impressed with the dedication shown by the team at Eastbourne Coach Finishers in achieving the Kitemark and we truly believe that it will benefit their organisation and their customers. By gaining the accreditation it demonstrates how serious the bodyshop is about getting critical vehicle body repair safety processes right."
